100 Years of Design

While working at Second Story | For AIGA

To celebrate AIGA’s Centennial, Second Story created an interactive microsite that tells the stories of the last 100 years of design and cultivates a public conversation about design for participants around the world. As the lead experience designer on the project, we collaborated to  develop this core concept: instead of organizing these stories by time or aesthetic we chose to organize them by the intention of the designer, elevating audience as a key element of the story.

These stories are rooted in key artifacts and extended through historical events, designer bios, and audio and video designer interviews.

Additionally, we created a platform that invited visitors to contribute their own sentiment about how design has influenced them. After being active for six months, the website has received over 150,000 unique visitors and over 1200 contributions.
